the primaries
Red, blue and gold, which is close enough to yellow in my book. I wanted the opportunity to wear this gorgeous red silk scarf, which is splashed with vibrantly colored flowers. This is a scarf my mom lent/gave me ages ago to play dress up with. I think it was a bit too bright and flowery for her. Now that I’m actually into scarves, I love it… and this was my first time wearing it. ...

friday night out: my kind of town...
Chicago is… and here I am in front of the famous Chicago Theater. My dad played photographer before we went to see a show (not at the Chicago but at the Goodman) and I even got a “rock it, girl!” from some passerbys as I was posing. I wasn’t sure whether to be excited or embarrassed.
Love this skirt - bought it about a month ago from a Or D’lor, a small store in...

windy city style
I’m in Chicago for a few days attending REIT school. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it? Actually, today was my last day and here’s a snapshot of my business caz look:
First off, yes, those are the Frank Gehry Pavillion and uber-famous Bean right below me and secondly, how much do you love my new $25 faux-linen pants from Target? Super wide-legged, kinda shiny and nicely fitted,...

clownin' around
With all the bright colors and big buttons, I felt a bit clownish in this getup. But clownish in that fabulous way if you know what I mean? The blouse is great and crinkly and my mom bought it for me at some tiny boutique in Paris that sells art on clothes. My shirt happens to be this Toulouse Lautrec painting, with some modified coloring. I debated whether to wear my bright yellow pointy-toed...

An American girl
I went to my first farm party in Maryland this weekend: an all-American style affaire with all-American games, foods, etc., as the host liked to put it. I like to think that my Monday morning’s outfit was inspired by said theme. What do you think?
seersucker jacket - Tahari from Macy’s, I bought the whole suit on sale for $100ish navy pants - Banana Republic, on sale - $40...

wwkw: revitalize
Here’s another tip on how to revitalize and make better use of clothes you already own: when your pant hems are starting to look frayed, take them up a half an inch. That’s what I did with these navy light wool pants from Banana. I had completely worn through the bottoms but instead of replace them (which might cost anywhere from $30-$50 or even more), I brought them to the tailor...

wwkw: weekend edition
I bought this dress last winter at a thrift store in Astoria and this is its first wear! My friend and I debated over which one of us was actually going to buy the dress but she’s smaller and super petite so the length worked just a tad better on me (we have a deal that she can borrow it any time of course). The fabric reminds me so much of Marimekko which is the main reason I love it. ...

curtsy like a lady
This is very similar to an outfit I wore a few weeks ago, but with a different color scheme. The fullness of the skirt and the polka-dots are so feminine that I kinda just want to twirl around and curtsy.
Things have been really hectic lately at work and otherwise, but I’m looking forward to doing a few how-to posts and other such things soon so keep on the look out!
P.S. I really need a...

red, black and white all over
I was going for something chill and understated with this look, but I like how the black shirt under the white knit top is a a bit different… I feel like I normally pair a white blouse under a black sweater. The Aarikka necklace from Finland ties everything together and has sentimental value as it was my mom’s from way back in the day and something we found in my grandma’s...

wwkw: work to weekend
I wore this oufit to work on Friday… almost. As in, I wore the blue silk tank with black work slacks and patent leather pumps and then changed into black jeans with a gold belt and sandals upon leaving for my after work Friday night activities. Below is the second version of the outfit. Can you believe this top has been in my closet for a year with the tags still on? I bought it on...

Packed and Ready to Go!
How I wish I were this organized when I packed for a trip. I’m more of a throw everything in a bag and hope it looks good together/accessorize as much as possible so as not to have to pack too many clothes kinda gal. I should really give this method a shot.

flowers and bows and all things girly
I wore this last night to my boyfriend’s grandfather’s retirement party: cocktail attire required. This skirt was a fabulous purchase at Express this winter - originally pricey, I got it off the clearance racks for $20! Because of the light and dark elements, it can be used for dressier events both in the winter and summer. In fact, I wore it to my family Christmas party in December...

wwkw to a baseball game?
Definitely NOT what I wore to last night’s Mets game but, as chance would have it, I got last minute tickets (FREE!) from work so I headed straight to Citifield in my work attire. Not condusive to nachos and beer…
Thought I’d include the nice photo I took of the new stadium, as it was my first time there:
My outfit was accompanied by black pants and patent leather pumps; I...

parisian wasp?
That’s how I would describe this outfit: Parisian because the scarf is actually a famous Toulouse Lautrec painting and WASP because, well, the pearls, scarf and salmony-orange blouse with the khaki-colored pants kinda make me look like I live in the Connecticut burbs, not that there’s anything wrong with that might I add!
orange blouse - Target, this weekend - $25 khaki pants -...

all snazzed up going banana(s)
At least that’s how I feel in this outfit (and practically the whole thing is from Banana Republic Outlet)! I like how the colors in the scarf play off the colors in the heels and the brightness the scarf brings to the outfit in general. I wore this white jacket not too long ago, but I wore it buttoned and with pants. The above-the-knee skirt and scarf (which is just knotted at the...

wwkw: weekend edition
I know it’s Monday but I didn’t have a chance to post all weekend. I was in New Jersey with my boyfriend’s family running around like crazy… we actually left in a bit of a hurry Friday night to see his Grandma, so much so that I forgot to pack a change of clothes. And so, we had to make a little Saturday afternoon shopping trip to Target, where I bought this oh-so-fun...

how to: coil a scarf
This is very simple but I never would have thought to do this if I hadn’t seen it somewhere else first! So:
lay the square scarf on a flat surface
fold two corners in so they meet in the middle
keep folding the opposite sides into the middle until you have what looks like a rope
start twisting the rope
hold one end with your non-dominant hand to the side of your neck while twisting (I...

coiled and pearled
This brown pinstriped linen suit is one of my go-to summer suits. I wore it yesterday (I’m a day behind on posting… which is actually ok because I’m home sick today) because I was sitting in on a large meeting and I like to look a bit more business on meeting days, especially when all the top guys (CEO, COO, CFO, etc.) are there.
Anyway, what’s interesting about this suit...

gettin' my white on
White pants one day, white blazer the next. Think I’ll have it in me to do the full-on white suit? Maybe in late July… I gotta get my white on as much as I can!
This outfit came about because I hadn’t worn the skirt in a long while and I finally have a lighter brown belt to compliment it. The skirt is one of those that has a sheen to it and because of that, looks...

I’m wearin’ the blues
Different shades of blues that is…
A new reader recently emailed me and asked if I would talk more about how I choose my outfits, how I feel when wearing them, how I decide what to buy, etc. This is actually something I’ve been meaning to do from the beginning with this blog, but has been left by the wayside. So… I’m starting again! If you have any suggestions or comments on how I can improve...

What can you wear to both Mother’s Day dinner and a bachelorette party several weeks later? This fabulous teal dress from Uniqlo! Such a great color and so versatile:
