I saw this dress featured on What I Wore and wanted to share because it’s a total work-to-going-out piece if you cover your shoulders with a short and tapered black, red or even white jacket and add some pumps.  Certain jackets you might leave open to show off the whole dress, others you might button so it looks like a skirt/jacket combo. Think about dresses you already have that could...

who knew Burlington Coat Factory sold more than...
Not I! Hopped in there for a look tonight and found out they carry everything from casual clothes to suits, to belts, shoes, handbags, etc. Although I did try on two promising Nine West suits (for like $80 a pop), they didn’t quite fit right and the rest of the selection wasn’t the best quality or style. I did walk away with two belts - a skinny reversible belt by Steve Madden and a...

gloomy weather+orange blouse=office sunshine
Ok maybe not quite, but I’d like to think it makes a bit of a difference…  Not to mention that my mood was gloomy because I dropped my camera on the floor last night and broke it.  UGH!  These photos are taken courtesy of my friend and colleague Julie (in our big boss man’s office-woot!) Check out my “belt”—yup, that’s one of the silk scarves I bought at...

white is here to stay (until labor day at least)
Even though it was a bit chilly this morning (something I didn’t realize until I got all the way outside), today was my first chance to wear my new white jacket from Banana.  Even though it’s not super summery, I didn’t want to chance the “before Memorial Day white?” stares that New Yorkers can be so adamant about giving… jacket - Banana Republic Outlet, on...

my thrift/vintage explorations continue
Over the past week, I discovered two amazing stores: Housing Works (probably very well known to all you thrift and vintage junkies out there) and Cobblestones.  Both are really well organized, have a good selection of high-quality, hand-picked clothes and great salespeople.  Housing Works even had a Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress for like $50! (It was a bit too orange for me). There are, in...

It’s the Friday before Memorial Day, half the office left for the long weekend on Thursday, my boss was home sick and to top it all off we got out at 1… so I went with fun, flirty, and casz to work.  Besides, I really wanted a chance to wear the skirt I bought at Dor L’Dor a few weeks ago. wrap sweater - Express, on clearance ages ago - price? cami - Express, on sale - $15...

Victoria's Secret Semi-annual sale starts online... →
FREE SHIPPING on orders of $100 or more; use code VSFRSHIP. Victoria’s Secret has a good selection of suits and separates, blouses and camis in various colors and styles.  I have friends who swear by their suits saying they’re well made, fit well and are reasonable, especially when you get them on sale!  They tend to run a tad bit small, so I might try a size bigger than you normally...

WSJ reviews online clothing swap sites →
Remember that post on dignswap.com I did a week or two ago?  In this article the Wall Street Journal reviews the site along with two other online clothing swap sites: swapstyle.com, rehashclothes.com.  Have any of you started online swapping?

Obviously, I am all about this: WhatIWore: I’ve always sort of felt this way. When you have a lot of money you can buy style, when you don’t— I think that’s when real style shines through. As Georgie puts it: “Has anyone else noticed how completely uncool buying and wearing expensive clothing is these days.  Or more specifically, how totally cool you are if you can put together an amazing...

Looking for interesting, reasonably-priced jewelry...
Etsy is like an online street fair, where artists and craftspeople of all sorts gather to sell all things handmade.  What’s great about buying jewelry (or anything really) from Etsy is that you’re supporting a small business-owner, an entrepreneur, an artist, a craftsperson and more often than not, their things are beautifully handmade, well-made, and reasonably priced.   Here are a few Etsy...

wwkw: weekend edition
One of my goals for the summer is to up my weekend fashionability.  Sometimes I tend to roll out of bed, throw on the first pair of jeans or skirt I can find and the tank top that best matches and just get on out to enjoy the weather.  I want to be better and I’m hoping by including some weekend edition posts, I’ll force myself to think a bit more about my weekend outfits.  Over the...

deal of the month: 99 cent cardigan
I rummaged through the clearance boxes at Express last night and emerged victorious with a beautiful cerulean v-neck cardigan in my size!  Originally $40 (or was it $50?), the tag now read $19.99. An extra 20% of all clearance = $15.99 minus the $15 in birthday coupon Express sends me every May and December because apparently I have two birthdays, I paid a GRAND TOTAL of $1.00 (I told the cashier...

to budget or…?
My idea of budgeting is buying things, trying to get great deals, making sure I pay off my credit card bill every month, and looking at my credit card statement at the end of each quarter to see approximately how much I’ve spent on various things. I tend to do the majority of my spending on my credit card so this method works relatively well to look back and see how I’ve spent my hard-earned...
